The 7-inch entrance hole of the JCs Wildlife Barred Owl Box allows for easy access in and out. Additionally, this box is designed as one room for easy nesting. This owl nesting box is also designed with a 2" front overhanging roof, allowing for additional protection from the elements.  Special "grip" grooves on the outer front help the adult owl gain access into the box. No perches exist outside of the box as they could provide convenient perches for predators or would expose young owlets to danger. A door on the side of the box allows for easy interior access, making clean out a simple and quick task. Simply open the door labeled Clean Out and easily replace the wood shavings inside. This side door also provides easy access to mount a wildlife camera inside, so you can enjoy viewing your owlets during their growth process. **Dimensions of the completed box are 26.5" H x 13" W x 15" D including the 2" overhanging roof) ** Nesting Material: Though Barred Owls can and will find their own nesting materials, one bag of pine shavings is included with your nesting box. Adding 3-4" of shavings when mounting will make it more appealing to the owl. This box comes with full assembly and mounting instructions. Designed with careful research in order to ensure top quality and performance, this box meets the specific needs of Barred Owls.  The box will need to be treated with Natural Linseed Oil on exterior surfaces. **No paint or varnish should be applied to the interior.
